|Thunder Ridge Farm is now commercial. We are a barefoot only farm and are 4 years old. We can help develop a program to get your horse out of their shoes through nutrition, free choice hay, terrain and access to a leading barefoot farrier. We have had success with some horses that had terrible feet. We don't allow commercial grains as the sugar content is too high. Supplements are extra. Most farms don't offer free choice hay and we believe its essential, albeit more expensive then typical boarding farm grain. My daughter won the State Amateur jumping contest with a barefoot Thoroughbred that the traditional farriers left for lame - long story but a great example.|
We have no rough board. Horses are supervised 24x7 and are put inside during inclement weather. We have an indoor arena and an outdoor arena next door that we are making improvements to. We have access to 30 acres including fields, and trails. Our plans are to expand our trail system as the woods are getting thinned.
We have a certified trainer on site, as well as other horse experts that can help. We also do periodic clinics if we have interest. We have one paddock that is about 3 acres as we believe horses should be in a herd, and not tiny pens.
Each 12x12 stall has electricity and Dutch doors that open into the paddock. We have a heat and AC in our tack /feed room and bathroom. Stalls have interlocking mats and are cleaned daily. The paddock is cleaned daily as well. Bedding is sawdust that is supplied locally. We have two seperate hay barns and paddock hay is stored in hay huts
We have the barefoot farrier come every 5 weeks, dentist once per year and barn Vet lives 15 minutes away.
We will allow work to help offset board, but we will withhold and you will need to fill out a W4 and we will supply a W2.
